Testimony stage concludes in Toshakhana-II case
ISLAMABAD: Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand held the Toshakhana II case hearing against the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi at the judicial complex, rather than in jail, and adjourned it until Tuesday (today).
The prosecution was set to present its final arguments on Monday. The testimony stage has concluded, and the defence lawyer, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, was formally notified of the new hearing date. The court adjourned the proceedings.
In a separate case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka recommended appointing a state counsel for Hadi Ali Chatha in the controversial tweet case involving lawyers Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha.
During Monday’s hearing, both Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha appeared in court. No lawyer represented Hadi Ali Chatha, who said he could not secure legal representation. The court wrote to the session judge to appoint a state counsel for him.
Prosecutor Rana Usman requested an adjournment until Wednesday, October 15, to which Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka responded that the committee would convene promptly, and the state counsel would decide. The prosecutor suggested that an adjournment until Wednesday might lead to a decision.
Hadi Ali Chatha requested a further delay until Thursday, October 16, noting that one day would not make a significant difference. The prosecutor stated that if the hearing were postponed until Thursday, witness statements should also be recorded. The court adjourned the hearing until October 16.
