ISLAMABAD: The armed forces of Russia and Pakistan conducted the joint military exercise Druzhba 2025 on the territory of Russia’s Southern Military District, focusing on counterterrorism operations and enhancing military cooperation between the two countries.

According to a statement by the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, around 200 personnel participated in the drills. The exercises involved Special Operations Forces of Russia’s Southern Military District, experienced in counterterrorism missions and special forces units from the Pakistan Army.

During the exercises, troops from both sides practiced tactical actions aimed at countering international terrorism. The training also focused on improving coordination, communication and joint operational capabilities.

The event concluded with awards for outstanding servicemen and an exchange of souvenirs bearing the Druzhba 2025 insignia, a longstanding tradition of the exercise.

The Druzhba (meaning “friendship”) series of joint military drills between Russia and Pakistan began in 2016 and has been alternately hosted in both countries. The initiative aims to strengthen defence ties and promote mutual understanding between the two armed forces.
