ISLAMABAD: Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka on Tuesday extended the pre-arrest bail of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi until October 28 and directed that the PTI founder be produced before the court or via video link at the next hearing.

The judge also issued a show-cause notice to Adiala Jail authorities and sought an explanation. The court restrained the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi from arrest in the relevant cases until October 28 and adjourned the hearing of their bail applications till the same date. Advocate Shamsa Kayani appeared on behalf of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi.

In a separate case, the judge directed the submission of replies to the charge sheet at the next hearing in the controversial tweet case against Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha and adjourned proceedings till October 11.

Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha appeared in court and requested adjournment due to the unavailability of their lawyers. However, Prosecutor Usman Rana opposed the request, arguing that the accused were deliberately delaying the trial and had already sought time at the previous hearing.

Rejecting the plea, the court observed that if a lawyer for Hadi fails to appear at the next hearing, a public prosecutor will be appointed.

The court was also informed that both accused had not yet submitted their replies to the charge sheet. The judge directed them to do so by the next hearing and adjourned the case till October 11.
