FIA sacks four officers, demotes female officer
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has dismissed four officers while demoted a female officer following a departmental inquiry into allegations of poor performance, corruption, and misuse of authority.
The officers, serving in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore zones, were terminated by FIA Director General Riffat Mukhtar Raja during an “Orderly Room” held at the FIA Headquarters. The disciplinary action is part of an ongoing accountability drive to eradicate corruption and improve institutional integrity. According to an official statement, the DG presided over the proceedings and listened to the defence pleas of the accused officers before delivering the final verdict. The DG ordered the dismissal of four officers — two inspectors and two sub-inspectors — from service for their involvement in corruption and substandard investigation, while a female inspector was demoted to the rank of sub-inspector due to poor investigative work.
Riffat Mukhtar Raja, addressing the attendees, emphasised the agency’s firm stance against corruption and negligence. “There is no place in the FIA for officials involved in corruption, negligence, or poor investigation,” he stated, adding that a strict accountability process is under way to “rid the institution of corruption and black sheep”. The DG reiterated that stern measures are being taken against all officials found involved in illegal activities. He concluded by affirming that only through stringent accountability can the agency effectively combat corruption and human trafficking. “Officers guilty of negligence will be given exemplary punishment,” he warned.
