Punjab Rangers deployed in AJK
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has deployed Punjab Rangers in Azad Kashmir to maintain law and order.
According to sources, the federal government deployed the Rangers on the request of the Azad Kashmir government. The responsibility of the deployment of Rangers was handed over to the Azad Kashmir government. The Rangers were deployed by the federal government under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
The Rangers were deployed in Azad Kashmir in numbers as per requirement.The Joint People’s Action Committee has announced a strike in Azad Kashmir on September 29.Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also tasked two federal ministers to hold talks with the Joint Action Committee. Federal Ministers Amir Muqam and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry held talks with the Joint Action Committee on Thursday.
