Eight arrested in Gulshan call centre harassment and firing case
Police have registered six cases and arrested eight individuals following an incident of harassment and firing at a software house (call centre) in Gulshan Iqbal Block 6.
According to reports, the first FIR was lodged by Syed Shoaib Hussain, the father of the victim woman, under charges of harassment, illegal confinement, death threats and brawl, among other sections.
In the FIR, the complainant stated that his daughter had been working at the call centre for the past three years as a customer leader, where the branch manager, Daniyal, allegedly harassed her and engaged in inappropriate behaviour.
The complainant said his daughter told her brother about the incident, who informed him about it. On Tuesday, his nephew called Daniyal to question him about the harassment, to which Danyal allegedly issued threats. Later, when the victim went to the office, Danyal again contacted the nephew and challenged him.
The complainant, along with his sister Zarina and nephews Majid, Salman Khan, Syed Salman and Faizan, went to the office. They claimed the office was locked from inside and the victim was kept in illegal confinement for some time.
When they forced entry, Daniyal allegedly started abusing them, while another man, Zulqarnain, pulled out a weapon and opened aerial fire. In retaliation, Majid also fired shots, after which the office guards, Imran and Raza, opened fire as well. Someone informed Madadgar-15, and police rushed to the spot.
The case came into the spotlight when a video of the incident went viral on Tuesday night, showing both parties engaged in a brawl, exchanging heated arguments and resorting to firing.
SHO Gulshan-e-Iqbal Muhammad Naeem, while speaking to The News, said that a total of six FIRs had been registered in the case. He added that the first FIR was lodged on the complaint of the girl’s father under various sections, while the remaining five were registered under Section 23(1)(a) for possessing of illegal weapons.
The SHO stated that police had arrested eight individuals in connection with the case, with four suspects belonging to each party. He added that further investigations were under way. The arrested individuals included Majid, Zulqarnain, Faizan, Imran Ali, Raza, Salman Khan, Syed Salman and Daniyal Hussain. Weapons were seized from five of them.
