Attackers open fire on office of ex-LHC judge

RAWALPINDI: The office of former Lahore High Court judge Hasan Raza Pasha came under fire in Rawalpindi late Friday evening.

According to police, the attackers opened fire on the office and then fired shots into the air before fleeing the scene. Hasan Raza Pasha, a member of the Pakistan Bar Council and chairman of its executive committee, was not present at the time.

The police said the assailants arrived on a motorcycle and deliberately targeted the former judge’s office. No casualties were reported. Four bullet marks were found on the office’s glass.

Following the incident, a large number of senior lawyers gathered outside the office, terming the attack on such a prominent legal figure highly alarming.

City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice of the incident, which occurred within the jurisdiction of Chaklala Police Station. SSP Investigation Raza Tanveer Supra visited the scene, reviewed evidence, and issued instructions to the Potohar SP and the Chaklala SHO.

The police confirmed the office was closed at the time of the firing. Special teams have been formed to collect technical evidence, and an investigation is underway. Officials assured that those involved in the attack will be arrested and brought before a court of law.
