The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh police has carried out an intelligence-based operation in Hyderabad and arrested a most-wanted terrorist of the proscribed Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA).

According to CTD officials, the arrested suspect has been identified as Sarkash, alias Sunny Bhatti, who had been in hiding for a long time and was on the CTD’s most-wanted list. His name was also included in the Fourth Schedule.

Officials said Sarkash had previously staged his own enforced disappearance and released a video statement on social media claiming to have escaped from the law enforcement agencies’ custody.

The CTD revealed that the suspect and his accomplices had planned petrol bomb attacks on cargo trailers heading to Punjab. His accomplices had already been arrested earlier, and during one encounter, the group had also exchanged fire with CTD personnel and attacked CTD vehicles. The arrested man was taken into custody on his return from Balochistan. Another member of his group remains at large, and efforts are under way to arrest him.
