Murder charge added in Chitral girl suicide case
CHITRAL: Upper Chitral police have added Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code to the first information report registered in connection with the alleged suicide of a girl in Neshko village in Upper Chitral.
The FIR, originally filed on August 21 under Section 365, was amended last night to include the murder charge.District Police Officer (DPO) Upper Chitral, Hameedullah, confirmed the development, stating that the nominated suspect would be arrested soon. He expressed concern over unverified speculations and propaganda circulating on social media, stressing that the investigation was being carried out strictly within legal boundaries. He said the case must be built on strong and solid grounds to ensure the accused is brought to justice.
It is noteworthy that on August 27, the girl’s father, Muhammad Yaqoob, submitted a statement before the local court under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, accusing Junaid, son of Muhammad Hashim, resident of Rayeen Torkhow, of blackmailing his daughter.
