Pakistan Monument lit up in Russian flag colours on National Flag Day
ISLAMABAD: The Russian Embassy issued a statement on Friday, accompanied by a picture of the Russian flag and the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad illuminated in its colours, to mark Russia’s National Flag Day observed on August 22.
The embassy said: “Today, we honour the official state symbol of Russia, which represents the country’s sovereignty, independence, and the continuity of its diverse population over many generations.” The statement recalled that the history of the Russian tricolor dates back more than three centuries. Peter the Great is considered its creator, and in 1705 he ordered the white-blue-red flag to be hoisted on sea trading ships.
It further explained: “The Russian national flag is a rectangular cloth with three equal horizontal stripes: white on top, blue in the middle, and red at the bottom.” In a colorful display of Russia-Pakistan friendship, the Pakistan Monument was lit up in the Russian flag’s colours.
