Massive overcharging on prices of fruits, vegetables
LAHORE: Increasing trend in the prices of fruits and vegetables was recorded for the fourth consecutive week. Massive overcharging and violation of official price list also continue, giving rise to prices artificially.
The Punjab government has created a new department to control prices, but its result is yet to be seen. Rainy season is also affecting the supply of vegetables and fruits.
This week the rate of live chicken was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs374-388 per kg, while the sellers charged Rs450-480 per kg for live chicken, chicken meat by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs562 per kilogram, while the sellers sold it at Rs600-620 per kg and chicken boneless at Rs1000-1100 per kg.
The price of potato soft skin A-grade was declined by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs75-80 per kg, sold at Rs140-150 per kg, B-grade at Rs65-70 per kg and C-grade at Rs55-60 per kg, mixed sold at Rs120-130 per kg. The price of potato sugar free A-grade fixed Rs60-65, B-grade 50-55 and C-grade at Rs35-40 per kg, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg. The price of onion A-grade was unchanged at Rs45-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, B-grade at Rs35-40 per kg, and C-grade at Rs26-30 per kg, mixed sold at Rs60-70 per kg.
The price of tomato A-grade was further increased by 15 per kg, fixed at Rs82-90 per kg, sold at Rs150-160 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs70-75 per kg, and C-grade at Rs55-60 per kg, mixed sold at Rs120-130 per kg.
The price of garlic local new increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs195-205 per kg, sold at Rs280-300 per kg, Garlic Harani fixed at Rs240-250 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg.
The price of Ginger Tahi was further reduced by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs430-450 per kg, Ginger China increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed 410-430 per kg, both sold at Rs600-700 per kg. Cucumber Farm was gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, farm sold at Rs80-120 per kg, cucumber local was sold at Rs120 per kg. Brinjal price was further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs142-150 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg. Biter gourd further increased by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs172-180 per kg, sold at Rs200-240 per kg. The price Spinach further increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 at Rs100-120 per kg. Zucchini local was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs190-200 per kg, sold at Rs240-250 per kg.
The lemon local was further declined by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs250-260 per kg, sold at Rs300-350 per kg, lemon seedless was fixed at Rs152-160 per kg, sold at Rs300 per kg.
Lady finger was further increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs172-180 per kg, sold at Rs220-260 per kg.
Green chili further increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs133-140 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg.
Capsicum price was further gained by Rs30 per g, fixed at Rs133-140 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg.
Price of cauliflower was further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs162-170 per kg, sold at Rs200-220 per kg, and cabbage by Rs20 per kg, fixed at 114-120 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 per kg.
Carrot Chinese further gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs114-120 per kg, sold at Rs200-250 per kg.
Pea price unchanged at Rs220-230 per kg, sold at Rs400-500 per kg.
Beetroot was sold at Rs400 per kg.
Coriander was sold at Rs80 per bundle.
The price of different variety of apples gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs190-460 per kg, sold at Rs300-800 per kg.
The price of Banana A-category fixed at Rs188-210 per dozen, sold at Rs250-350 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs134-150 dozen, sold at Rs200-230 per dozen. C-grade was fixed at Rs90-100 per dozen, sold at Rs150-180 per dozen.
