Role of elders lauded in maintaining peace in Kurram

KOHAT: Regional Police Officer (RPO), Kohat region, Abbas Majeed Marwat, on Friday commended the role of members of police reconciliation committees and tribal elders of Kurram in maintaining peace in accordance with regional traditions.

He was addressing a peace jirga at Sadda Jirga Hall during his visit to Kurram district. The jirga was attended by a large number of tribal elders from lower and central Kurram. During the session, a detailed discussion was held on the prevailing law and order situation and other key matters affecting the region.

The RPO stated that their exemplary cooperation and standing shoulder to shoulder with the police during challenging times is highly commendable.

He further stated that Kurram Police, in coordination with other security forces, stands as a formidable barrier against anti-state elements and is courageously thwarting their malicious designs. The RPO emphasised the need for continued public participation and cooperation in establishing lasting peace in Kurram. He reiterated that efforts are being made to further enhance the policing system by making it more effective and aligned with modern standards to meet public expectations.
