Child dies as mortar shell hits house in Khyber

LANDIKOTAL: A child lost his life and another was injured when a mortar shell, allegedly fired from Afghanistan, struck a home in the Waragha Shankhel area of Bazar Zakhakhel in Landikotal, sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said that the mortar landed inside the house of Haji Daryab during shelling from across the border that began in the early hours. The explosion caused widespread panic among residents living near the Pak-Afghan border.
The injured child was taken to a nearby hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Religious Affairs and Auqaf Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri condemned the attack and urged the federal government to take measures to prevent such incidents.
