Maryam reviews progress on 1,200 model villages across Punjab
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday chaired a special meeting to receive a briefing on the Model Village, ‘Suthra’ (Clean) Punjab, and Waste-to-Value projects.
She reviewed the progress made on the plan to develop 1,200 model villages across the province. The chief minister stated, “A 24/7 water supply system, a comprehensive sewage network, and a waste management treatment plant will be established in every model village.”
She said that the villages will also feature paved streets, road rehabilitation, children’s parks, and tree plantations. She emphasized that houses in each model village would be numbered and signboards installed for better navigation and organisation.
During the meeting, the chief minister was briefed by officials on a proposed solar-powered water supply and sewage system for the model villages.
She was informed that development work in 130 villages under the pilot phase of the Model Village Project has already been completed. The chief minister directed authorities to set a deadline for the early completion of the entire project, stating, “Priority will be determined based on the specific needs of each area.” She reiterated, “Every village will be fully developed under the Model Village Project.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken strict notice of the tragic incident involving the throat-slitting of a 12-year-old girl in Kot Radha Kishan, Kasur district. She has sought a detailed report from the authorities concerned and ordered immediate action.
The chief minister expressed her heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family and vowed that justice would be ensured.
