Security measures upped in Kurram ahead of Muharram

KOHAT: The security and administrative preparations intensified in the volatile Kurram district to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram.Commissioner, Kohat Division Motasim Billah and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat paid a one-day visit to the district to review security arrangements and hold consultations with local elders and religious scholars.

During a press briefing, RPO Abbas Majeed Marwat said that no negligence or lapse in security would be tolerated during Muharram. A meeting was held in Parachinar to assess the overall preparedness for Muharram, attended by DIG Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat, DPO Kurram Malik Habib, Deputy Commissioner Kurram Ashfaq Khan, military officials and heads of all relevant departments.

The meeting focused on ensuring peace and order during Muharram processions and majalis. Key areas of discussion included security, sanitation, lighting, water supply, medical facilities, and other administrative matters. RPO Kohat and the Commissioner directed all departments to ensure strong coordination and a unified strategy for the smooth provision of services throughout the month.They highlighted the collective responsibility of maintaining sectarian harmony, brotherhood, and a peaceful atmosphere.
