LAHORE: A suspected outlaw being taken for identification was killed in an alleged encounter between his accomplices and Crime Control Department (CCD) personnel in Kahna area of Lahore, officials claimed on Sunday.

According to the police, the suspect, Usman Butt, was being taken for identification when his accomplices ambushed the police team in an attempt to rescue him. During the exchange of fire, Butt received fatal wounds—reportedly by gunfire from his own accomplices.

The attackers managed to flee the scene, the police said, adding the body was shifted to a local morgue for postmortem examination. The police launched a search operation to trace the fleeing suspects.
