Agriculture dept to set up special desk for women farmers
The Sindh government has decided to establish a special desk for women farmers at the agriculture department to resolve the issues of women farmers and address their needs.
Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar said the government has also decided to provide farmers with new solar tube wells, crop insurance and watercourse linings under the Benazir Hari Card.
Speaking at a seminar on food security and the key role of women in agriculture held at a hotel, Mahar said women would be provided with better information on modern farming techniques, new crops and ways to achieve higher yields.
He said women farmers would receive agricultural advice and information via mobile phones so they can learn more easily. The government will assist women farmers in purchasing better seeds, fertilisers, machinery and other essentials to help increase their income. He said the government has provided 24,000 kitchen garden kits to women farmers.
