Police get custody of two held over murder outside Nazimabad school
A judicial magistrate on Tuesday remanded two suspects in police custody in a murder case. Two brothers, Shahid and Iqbal, have been arrested on charges of killing the former's ex-brother-in-law Rashid Majeed, 42, and wounding his daughter Amina outside her school in Nazimabad on May 14 over some monetary dispute.
Investigating officer Haseeb Ahmed produced both the suspects before Judicial Magistrate (Central) Ramsha Navaid and requested their 14-day physical remand for interrogation. The IO stated that the weapon used in the crime had been recovered from the suspects and that it was to be sent for a forensic analysis.
He said that the suspects killed the victim over some financial dispute. He said their custody was required for interrogation and completion of other formalities, including criminal record office.
After hearing the IO, the magistrate granted three-day police remand of the suspects. An FIR was lodged at the Nazimabad police station. According to the FIR, the complainant, Arsalan Majeed, stated that he and his brother Rashid Majeed lived in a house in Nazimabad No. 3, Karachi, and worked as estate agents.
On May 14, 2025, his brother had, as per routine, gone to drop his daughter Amina at her school on his motorcycle at around 8:18am, when unidentified assailants opened fire on them outside the school’s main gate. Rashid died from bullet wounds, while his niece Amina suffered injuries.
