LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz carried out a whirlwind tour of several cities, including Sambrial, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Ghakkar Mandi, Gujranwala, and surrounding areas, as part of inspecting the province-wide ‘Suthra Punjab’ cleanliness initiative.
She assessed cleanliness conditions, reviewed the state of road infrastructure, and monitored ongoing efforts to remove illegal encroachments. She directed the departments concerned to ensure visible and lasting improvements in public hygiene and urban management.
Traveling by car, she assessed the overall cleanliness situation and reviewed the arrangements made under the ‘Suthra Punjab’ programme. The chief minister also inspected road conditions and monitored progress on the ongoing anti-encroachment drive. She expressed satisfaction with the improved cleanliness in the visited areas and appreciated the efforts made by local authorities.
Maryam Nawaz directed the departments concerned to further enhance cleanliness measures in their respective cities and ensure sustained implementation of the programme. In Sambrial, Maryam Nawaz visited the residence of the late MPA Chaudhry Arshad Warraich, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN). She offered heartfelt condolences to his widow and daughters, acknowledging his enduring service to the party and the people of Punjab.
The CM also paid a surprise visit to Gujranwala, where she toured the inner city and areas along GT Road, including Kharadanwala Bazaar, Gondlanwala Bazaar, Deganwala Bazaar, Chowk Farooq Azam, and surrounding markets.
Concluding her visit, Maryam reached Chandda Qila, where she inspected ongoing construction work on GT Road and the Chandda Qila flyover, before departing for Lahore.
