MULTAN: South Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Fuad Hashim Rabbani met with Japan’s Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi to discuss matters of mutual interest and cooperation.
The ACS thanked the Japanese ambassador for JICA’s generous support in providing machinery worth billions of rupees to Wasa Multan, an initiative that would greatly improve the city’s sewage system and public health infrastructure. He emphasised that Pakistan and Japan enjoy long standing relations grounded in friendship and trade, which continue to grow stronger with time.
During the meeting, Rabbani also highlighted the rich culture and heritage of South Punjab.
Ambassador Shuichi appreciated the cultural depth of the region and expressed Japan’s continued commitment to deepening ties with Pakistan. He was especially impressed by the architectural beauty of Multan’s historic shrines. As a gesture of hospitality, Rabbani presented the ambassador with traditional gifts including a Multani shawl, blue pottery and Sohan Halwa, reflecting the vibrant identity of the South Punjab.
Earlier, the Japanese ambassador reached Multan to hand over the modern machinery provided to the Wasa. Commissioner Amir Karim Khan and Wasa MD Khalid Raza Khan welcomed the Japanese ambassador. A delegation from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was also present.
