Lawyers observe black day against attack on KBA president
The legal fraternity on Wednesday observed April 9 as a black day in protest over brutal and tragic incidents in which an advocate and his clients were burnt alive at his office in the Tahir Plaza as well as Tuesday’s attack on the KBA president by unidentified persons.
The Karachi Bar Association held a general body meeting and unanimously decided to convene an All Pakistan Lawyers Convention to address the most pressing and collective challenges to the judiciary in the country.
The KBA announced that the convention would also address issues with regard to the proposed construction of six canals on the Indus River, “unconstitutional policies” for corporate farming, 26th constitutional amendment and the Peca amendment “which curtails expression”.
The bar said the final line of action would be announced in the lawyers’ convention if demands were not met and a full-scale movement will be launched.
