This letter refers to the news report ‘Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) becoming cause of Pakistan’s economic and social decline’ (March 8, 2025). According to WHO estimates, NCDs accounted for around 43 million deaths worldwide in 2021.
Approximately 75 per cent of these deaths took place in low- to medium-income countries. Promoting healthier lifestyles is one of the most effective ways that we can counter this problem.
