WASHINGTON: The credit for arresting Afghan terrorist wanted by the US for Abbey Gate bombing 2021 entirely goes to Pakistan, the State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said here on Thursday.

Addressing the press briefing, the spokesperson referred to President Trump’s address to the Congress, during which he announced the arrest of ISK operative and planner Mohammad Sharifullah, who is responsible for the deaths of 13 US service members and those of over 160 Afghans at Abbey Gate.

Tammy Bruce said Sharifullah is now in the US custody and we extend our gratitude to the government of Pakistan. “We do so for their partnership in bringing Mohd Sharifullah to justice.” “Regarding Pakistan and the nature of our relationship,” she said, “we have a common interest in fighting terrorism. And the arrest of this terrorist also illustrated that US-Pakistan cooperation on counterterrorism remains widely important.”
