inDrive records 26% YoY growth in Pakistan
KARACHI: Global mobility and urban services platform inDrive has recorded a significant 26 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in rides and a 25 per cent rise in active users in Pakistan in 2024. The company attributes this rapid growth to its ‘fair price’ model, which allows passengers and drivers to negotiate fares directly.
inDrive is currently the second most downloaded ride-hailing app globally, operating in 888 cities across 48 countries. In Pakistan, the platform has solidified its presence as a market leader since its launch in 2021, expanding its ride-hailing services across 20 cities and intercity travel to 200 cities across three provinces.
inDrive’s Country Lead Pakistan Awais Saeed, in a discussion with a group of reporters here on Tuesday, emphasised the company’s commitment to empowering both passengers and drivers. “Our transparent, flexible, and fair model has resonated strongly with users in Pakistan, contributing to the overall growth of the ride-hailing sector,” he stated.
Beyond ride-hailing, inDrive is evolving into a full-scale urban services platform. Awais revealed that the company has successfully launched courier and freight services in Pakistan, catering to increasing logistics demands. The courier service, particularly beneficial for small businesses, experienced a twofold surge in deliveries during peak seasons in 2023.
inDrive also remains committed to corporate social responsibility initiatives in Pakistan. The company has donated Rs10 million to the Akhuwat Foundation to support school reconstruction in flood-affected areas of Thatta and Thar. Additionally, through the inDrive Rozgar initiative, Rs7.5 million was invested to establish 100 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in collaboration with HANDS Pakistan, fostering economic independence in major cities. Awais further disclosed that inDrive is expanding into Pakistan’s tech sector by setting up an IT development initiative in Lahore, engaging local tech talent to contribute to its global operations.
Moreover, the company is actively exploring electric vehicle (EV) rides in alignment with global sustainability trends and plans to introduce premium ride-hailing services, including business class.
