Asad Qaiser says Peca against freedom of expression
“PTI will not rest until the party’s mandate was reclaimed,” says Qaiser
SWABI: Senior PTI leader and former National Assembly speaker, Asad Qaiser, alleged on Sunday that the mandate of the people was stolen in the general elections of February 8 last year. “The people voted for Imran Khan but Shehbaz Sharif was imposed as PM through rigging and that undermined the public will,” he said while speaking at a gathering. Asad alleged that the real PM was PTI founder Imran Khan. “The PTI will not rest until the party’s mandate was reclaimed,” he said, adding the people of Pakistan continued to back Imran Khan. He alleged that the 26th Amendment had dismantled judicial system and subordinated the judiciary. “We will fight for an independent judiciary on every platform,” he said, vowing that the PTI would repeal the amendment after returning to power. He criticized the PECA. He expressed PTI’s solidarity with the journalist community and said the PECA infringed upon freedom of expression. He announced the PTI would raise its voice against the PECA during the February 8 protest and demand its immediate repeal.
