SBC, SHCBA praise legislation on pecuniary jurisdiction of district courts in Karachi
The Sindh Bar Council (SBC) and Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) have appreciated the Sindh Assembly for a recent legislation whereby the pecuniary jurisdiction of the district courts of Karachi has been expanded.
SBC Vice Chairman Kashif Hanif, SHCBA President Mohammad Sarfaraz Ali Metlo and other office bearers said in separate statements that the legislation had met an age-old demand from cross section of the bar to improve access to justice.
They appreciated the constructive and proactive role of Sindh Law Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar for his contribution towards judicial reforms and the well-being of the legal community.
They said the recent amendment was a significant and correct step for judicial efficiency and it would reduce case load from the high court and shall be instrumental in expediting the due legal process.
They said that legal fraternity in the province believed in the rule of the law and shall always be open to cooperate with all relevant stakeholders for the enforcement and future judicial reforms.
The SHCBA president said that granting of unlimited pecuniary jurisdiction to the district courts of Karachi was a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice and efficiency in the legal system. He said the SHCBA believed that this amendment would reduce the burden on higher courts, expedite the resolution of cases and enhance public confidence in the judiciary.
The SHCBA also acknowledged and appreciated the support of all political parties in the province for recognising the importance of the legislation and said that this step reflected a collective commitment to strengthen the judicial system and addressing the real needs of the legal fraternity and people of Sindh.
It said the SHCBA remained committed to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the legislation and continue advocating for further reforms in the legal and judicial system in the province.
