KARACHI: Amir Shehzad of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated former World Champion Ahsan Ramzan 4-0 at the 49th NBP National Snooker Championship held at the NBP Sports Complex on Friday.
Amir played brilliantly and outclassed his opponent Ahsan, winning with scores of 97-21, 61-35, 66-53, and 74-1. The fourth day of the championship saw three century breaks. Muhammad Sajjad made a break of 139, Sohail Shehzad made a break of 103, and Abdul Javed made a break of 100.
In another match, NBP’s Mohammad Sajjad defeated Sindh’s Mohammad Hasnain 4-1, while Punjab’s Umair Haider crushed Sindh’s Umair Khan 4-2. Asjad Iqbal edged past Umair Sodagar of KP 4-1 in a thrilling match, and Awais Munair (Pjb) defeated S. M. Muneeb Ali (Bal) 4-0.
In other matches, Mohammad Naseem Akhtar from Punjab played brilliantly to outclass Suleman Khan from KP 4-0 with scores of 67-20, 89(89)-0, 58-26, and 59-32. Sindh’s cueists Ayaan Ali and Sohail Shehzad were also among the victors on Friday.
