Transit bail granted to PTI leaders
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday granted transit bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shahryar Afridi, Kanwal Shauzab, and Barrister Umair Niazi, directing them to appear before the relevant courts.
A single bench of Justice Sahibzada Asadullah heard the petition.Mohsin Farooq and Moazzam Butt representing the petitioners informed the court that following recent protests, cases had been registered against their clients in Islamabad.
They said the petitioners intended to appear before the relevant courts but feared arrest. The lawyers prayed the court to grant transit bail to the petitioners to ensure their safe appearance in court.
Justice Sahibzada Asadullah inquired whether the petitioners had been named in the FIRs. The lawyers confirmed this to the court.After hearing the arguments, the court approved the transit bail applications, granting the petitioners protection until December 23. The court directed them to appear before the relevant courts within the stipulated time.
