Govt urged to restore peace in KP
NOWSHERA: Provincial leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) Zahid Khan on Monday said that terrorism and militancy had marred the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its people but the government had become a silent spectator instead of resolving the issues.
Speaking at a press conference at the Nowshera Press Club, he said that KP was engulfed in flames but the provincial and federal governments did not bother to address the core of peace restoration.
“The provincial government, instead of addressing pressing issues, is exhausting its energy on storming Islamabad to secure the release of prisoner No. 804,” he said.He advised the KP rulers to resolve the issues in Kurram, where scores of people had been killed and as many injured.
The ANP leader said that the government must act sensibly to pave the way for the restoration of lasting peace in the province. He alleged that militancy was imposed on this province by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led previous government which facilitated the resettlement of thousands of terrorists.
Zahid Khan said the KP government should act wisely and take solid steps to improve the law and order situation before it spirals out of controlHe urged the Pakhtuns to unite for their rights and peace. He said that only ANP was observing a province-wide ‘Black Day’ to protest Kurram’s tragic incidents, while others had turned a deaf ear to these issues.Pabbi and Jehangira tehsils’ presidents Malik Zahid Khan, Zar Ali Khan general secretary Abdul Samad Paracha, Atlas Khattak, Ehsan Wazir, and others were also present.
