PESHAWAR: The members of the Tribal Youth Movement staged a rally on Sunday to express concern over the worsening security situation in Kurram district and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Led by the central president of the movement, Khayal Zaman Orakzai, the protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club. The rally participants were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans seeking restoration of peace.

Speaking on the occasion, the protesters expressed grave concerns over the recent tragic incidents in Kurram. “It seems as if there is no presence of the state or security agencies in the area,” said one of the speakers.

They said innocent civilians continue to lose their lives despite the presence of district administration, police and other security forces in the area.

The protesters demanded an immediate resolution of the ongoing disputes in Kurram and urged the government and security agencies to establish their writ in the region. They called for urgent measures to ensure lasting peace and stability in Kurram by addressing the root causes of the conflicts causing such devastating incidents.

The Tribal Youth Movement members threatened to stage nationwide protests if no steps were taken to restore peace to the troubled areas.
