KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has clarified the status of the Sui development and production lease (D&PL), saying that the execution of the lease is contingent upon the signing of the Sui petroleum concession agreement and the fulfilment of the terms specified in the lease.
In a statement released on Friday, the company addressed recent news reports regarding the Sui D&PL, which were based on approvals from the federal cabinet and the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
PPL added that discussions with the relevant authorities and stakeholders are ongoing and remain positive. In its statement, it said that it “wishes to address any misunderstandings that may have arisen due to recent publications, and reaffirms its commitment to a positive and collaborative partnership with the Balochistan government. The company remains dedicated to actively engaging with the provincial government and continues to support the development and welfare of communities in Dera Bugti, Sui, and across Balochistan.”The execution of the lease, in addition to royalty payments, will include a lease extension and production bonus, totalling approximately Rs58.5 billion over the duration of the lease period.
