Govt urged to restore peace in Tirah valley
BARA: Expressing concern over deteriorating law and order in Tirah, the speakers at a seminar here on Sunday urged the government to take tangible steps to restore peace in the valley.The Bara Siyasi Ittehad had organized “Tirah Amn Seminar” in Bara tehsil of the Khyber tribal district.
Member National Assembly (MNA) Iqbal Afridi, Members Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Abdul Ghani Afridi, Sohail Afridi, former federal minister and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) leader Hameedullah Jan Afridi, Jamaat-e- Islami leader Shah Faisal Afridi, Bara Siyasi Ittehad president Shireen Afridi, Tirah Siyasi Ittehad president Sher Afgan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Zahir Shah Afridi, Khyber Union president Murad Saqi, Bazaar Gul Afridi, Abdul Razzaq Afridi, Farhad Shabab Afridi, Zahidullah Afridi, Malik Muhammad Hussain, Malik Barkat and others attended the seminar. The speakers said that the residents of the Tirah valley had already suffered due to terrorism and subsequent military operations in the past.
“Now the law and order has again started deteriorating over the last few months even in the presence of security forces and police,” said one of the speakers.The speakers demanded authorities concerned to take all possible measures to provide security to the people of the area.
The speakers demanded the government to withdraw the actions in aid for civil power regulation and repatriate the displaced people of Khyber district to respective areas. They asked the government to restore peace and stop mortar shells firing on houses, business centres in Tirah Maidan and restore mobile networks in the area
Speaking on the occasion, Bara Siyasi Ittehad president Shireen Afridi said that they would organize a peace march in Bara on September 15.“It is the responsibility of police and security forces to restore peace in Khyber district, including Tirah valley, ensure the protection of people’s lives and property, and end the growing unrest among the people.
