Dog found in restricted area at Karachi airport shot dead
ISLAMABAD: A dog was shot dead at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi in the early hours of Saturday.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) explained that the dog had to be shot in compulsion as it had entered a sensitive area where dogs are not allowed.
The incident took place at around 3am on Saturday morning.
It has been reported that the dog belonged to the Anti-Narcotics Force. The CAA spokesperson said that when the dog entered the restricted area, a team initially tried to control it and take it away from the area.
However, the animal could not be controlled and a shooter had to kill it to prevent it from running towards the runway and taxiway.
The presence of the dog in the restricted area was noticed by the pilot of an Etihad Airways airplane that landed in Karachi in the early hours of Saturday. After the landing, the pilot informed the control tower about the dog’s presence in the parking area, after which an airside team was sent. The airport administration has initiated an investigation into the incident.
