Foot traffic remains suspended on Chaman border despite agreement with protesters
A clear difference in agreement between mediation committee and sit-in leaders to end protest has come to fore, leaving people of Chaman in deep confusion
QUETTA: In Chaman, the Pak-Afghan border has not been able to restore foot traffic on the previous conditions.
In the morning, a large number of local Pakistani workers and businessmen were denied permission to enter Afghanistan from Bab-i-Dosti by the Afghan authorities on identity cards. On the other hand, a clear difference on the agreement between the mediation committee and sit-in leaders to end the protest has come to the fore, leaving the people of Chaman in deep confusion. The government officials have refused to talk to explain it, even declaring the agreement sent to the media by the government officials as valid, but they stopped the media from naming them. On the other hand, officials of the Afghan interim government posted at the Chaman border have rejected the agreement reached between the government of Pakistan and sit-in leaders as unilateral and for not consulting them. A written agreement based on the terms of negotiations between the arrested dharna leaders and the government was shared in the official WhatsApp group.
