CIEC, Sindh HEC letter to HU points to violations of rules
The Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC) and the Sindh HEC have written a letter to Habib University over violation of HEC rules and said it has not yet followed the recommendations/suggestions made by the Sindh HEC.
The letter written to the president of Habib University says that it is submitted that after due diligence and a detailed discussion made by CIEC members and HEC, it is observed that during the 2nd round inspection/visit following recommendations /suggestions are still not complied.
According to the letter, the university does not have sufficient numbers of permanent senior faculty members in the position of professors and associate professors. It is required to have a proper examination system and a well- managed online facility for the students and faculty. The faculty should be motivated and engaged towards national/international research.
Moreover, students’ grievances and alumni policy need to be addressed, the letter says, adding that that the Social Development and Policy Programme is required to appoint more faculty related to specialization.
Also, the Computer Science programme is not following the HEC-prescribed curriculum while the Communication & Design Programme needs to have stable and sustained teaching faculty. According to a member of the committee, various programmes have not been approved by the Academic Council.
