RAWALPINDI: Incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan Tuesday apprised the court that his wife Bushra Bibi was poisoned at the Bani Gala sub-jail.
The PTI founder made the claim during a hearing of the £190 million settlement case in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail. Khan informed the accountability court judge that the former first lady had marks on her skin and tongue after “being poisoned”. He sought the court’s order for an inquiry into the incident and a complete medical checkup of Bushra Bibi.
Khan said: “I know who is behind it.” He named a doctor at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH), insisting he should examine Bushra Bibi. At this, the court directed Khan to submit a written application for Bushra Bibi’s medical examination.
When Bushra Bibi came out of the courtroom in jail, she said she would only talk to a vlogger of her choice, complaining the media had not been reporting her talk. She sought permission to speak with the vlogger separately, which the jail authorities did not allow.
Ignoring other reporter, Bushra Bibi started speaking to the vlogger. She said that she had talked about threats to the PTI founder’s life but media did not report that.
She alleged some people are spreading rumours in the PTI that she is an American agent. She alleged that her food was poisoned with three drops of a toilet cleaner on Shabb-e-Meraj, which caused pain in her chest and stomach and swelling in the eyes.
She said she has learnt that health worsens after a month of ingesting toilet cleaner. She complained that food and water tastes bitter.
She said, “I have been kept respectfully in Bani Gala. Earlier the windows were kept closed, now they are opened occasionally.”
When asked how she learnt toilet cleaner was mixed with food, she said she would not name the person who had informed her.
A reporter reminded Bushra Bibi of her earlier claim about poison in honey, and asked her if she had any evidence of poisoning? She responded, “From where I’ll get evidence?”
