PM reconstitutes ECL committee of cabinet
In the absence of the prime minister, the minister for law will chair the ECL committee’s meeting
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reconstituted the Exit Control List (ECL) Committee of the Cabinet.
The prime minister himself will chair the four-member ECL Committee of the Cabinet which does not include the minister for interior.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the committee headed by the prime minister comprises the minister for law, minister for industries and production and minister for human resources.
In the absence of the prime minister, the minister for law will chair the ECL committee’s meeting. The Ministry of Interior will provide secretariat support to the ECL Committee of the Cabinet. After scrutinising the ECL cases, the committee will send its recommendations to the federal cabinet for approval.
The minister for law chaired the ECL Committee of the Cabinet during Shehbaz Sharif’s first tenure as prime minister.
Meanwhile, the federal cabinet through circulation has approved a summary for the removal of the name of ex-federal minister Dr Babar Awan from ECL. His name was placed on ECL in the wake of the Al Qadir Trust Case. It also approved to place another 24 names on the ECL.
