Javeria bids farewell to international cricket
Her remarkable journey began with her ODI debut in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, on May 6, 2008
LAHORE: Javeria Khan, one of Pakistan’s cricketing stalwarts, has declared her retirement from international cricket, marking the end of an illustrious career that spanned over 15 years.
Her remarkable journey began with her ODI debut in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, on May 6, 2008, in a Women’s Asia Cup fixture against Sri Lanka. Javeria’s T20I debut followed shortly after, against Ireland in Dublin in 2009.
She played 228 international matches and amassed a staggering 4,903 runs, etching her name among the cricketing elite. Her contributions included two centuries and 25 half-centuries, along with 28 wickets.
Javeria stands as the second-leading run-scorer in ODIs and T20Is for Pakistan women’s team, alongside the distinction of being the only women’s cricketer from Pakistan to surpass the 2,000-run mark in each format, besides Bismah Maroof.
Her international journey was marked by participation in four 50-over World Cups (2009, 2013, 2017, and 2022) and all eight editions of the T20 World Cups (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2023). Javeria’s prowess on the field also contributed to Pakistan’s gold medal victories in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games held in China and South Korea, respectively.
