156 women among 2,878 candidates contesting 130 general seats of Sindh Assembly

A total of 2,878 candidates have been in the run for 130 general seats of the Sindh Assembly in the February 8 general elections.

According to the data compiled by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), a total of 156 female candidates have also been contesting the upcoming general polls on the general seats of the Sindh Assembly. The poll-related data released by the ECP shows that no transgender candidate is in the field to contest the upcoming Sindh Assembly elections.

The data shows that two transgender candidates each have been contesting the National and provincial assembly elections on February 8. In the case of provincial elections, both the two transgender candidates are contesting general seats of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

As per the ECP’s data, a total of 949 candidates have been fielded by different political parties to contest the upcoming general polls on the general seats of the Sindh Assembly. These include 888 male and 61 female candidates.

A total of 1,929 independent candidates are in the fray for the polls on the general seats of the Sindh Assembly. These include 1,834 male and 95 female candidates.

The data compiled by the ECP shows that a total of 12.695 candidates are contesting the elections on the general seats of the four provincial assemblies in the country. These include 570 female candidates. All over the country, different contesting political parties have fielded 182 female candidates to contest the polls on the general seats of the provincial assemblies.

Some 388 female candidates have been contesting the polls independently on the general seats of the provincial legislatures in the country.

According to the data released by ECP, a total of 514 polling stations will be established for conducting polls on three general seats in Jacobabad district. The ECP will set up a total of 401 polling stations for conducting polls in three constituencies of the Sindh Assembly in the Kashmore district.

There will be a total of 443 polling stations for conducting polls on three Sindh Assembly seats in the Shikarpur district. A total of 735 polling stations will be set up in four constituencies of Larkana district and 598 polling stations in four constituencies of Kamber-Shahdadkot.

There will be 729 polling stations for four constituencies in Ghotki.

The ECP will establish 651 polling stations for four constituencies in Sukkur District. There will be 906 polling stations for six Sindh Assembly constituencies in Khairpur district.

In Naushehro Feroz district, there will be 717 polling stations for provincial four constituencies. The ECP will set up 679 polling stations in four provincial constituencies of Shaheed Benzirabad district.

There will be 714 polling stations for four constituencies in Sanghar district and 656 polling stations in Mirpurkhas district. A total of 790 polling stations will be established in Umerkot and Tharparkar districts for their five provincial constituencies.

For the two provincial constituencies of Matiari, there will be 378 polling stations and 333 polling stations will be set up for one Sindh Assembly constituency of Tando Allahyar district.

There will be 878 polling stations for six provincial constituencies in Hyderabad district and 300 polling stations for two constituencies in Tando Muhammad Khan.

There will be 452 polling stations for three constituencies in Jamshoro district and 670 polling stations for four constituencies of Dadu.

There will be 693 polling stations for five provincial constituencies in Badin district. In Sujawal district, there will be 386 polling stations for two provincial constituencies.

There will be 631 polling stations for four constituencies of Thatta district.
