It has become difficult for honest people to enter politics: Chandio
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio has remarked that politics has been made dirty and there are some politicians who have been insulting politics, due to which it has become difficult for an honest man to enter the political arena.
He made these remarks while talking to the media at the Hyderabad Press Club on Saturday.
He said the election season had started in the country and various things are happening. He added that due to black sheep among the politicians, people now did not know who was a true and sincere politician.
Chandio recalled that former military dictator Ziaul Haq went to extremes in abusing politics in the country. He added that since Zia’s era, there was always an anti-PPP alliance in the country, which showed that the PPP’s opponents considered it a major force.
The PPP senator termed this PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's success.
He said that winning or losing elections was a small matter, but establishing the principles of politics was a serious task.
Chiding the critics of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who said Bilawal was too young to become a leader, Chandio said those critics did not know that Bilawal was sincere with the people.
He added that some forces wanted to give power to Nawaz Sharif who was raised by Zia.
He said that those forces had kept Punjab in their hands for 11 years as keeping Punjab under control was tantamount to keeping Pakistan's politics under control.
Chandio said the idea of ‘Ladla’ was still in field because the term ‘Ladla’ referred to all those who were facilitated by invisible forces.
The PPP senator said that during the period of the PTI government, the judiciary was ridiculed. He added that Saqib Nisar was less a judge and more a comedy character who provided the opportunity to others to make fun of the judiciary.
Chandio said this was also unprecedented that a judge welcomed an accused upon his arrival at the court. People had now high hopes with the present chief justice, he added.
He explained that Nawaz Sharif was being called a ‘Ladla’ because the courts went to him at the airport. It would have been better if Nawaz had gone to prison knocked the door of judiciary from there, the PPP leader added.
The senator remarked that many leaders of the Grand Democratic Alliance said they were alternative to the PPP but after losing, they themselves joined the PPP.
Responding to a question, Chandio said that if Bilawal had called Nawaz uncle, it was a noble gesture.
