Legitimate concerns
Last week’s long march protests by the people of Balochistan, culminating in Islamabad, were reportedly held to draw attention to the alleged extrajudicial murder of a Baloch youth in Turbat.
The decision to crackdown on the protestors in Islamabad was a mistake. Instead, the government needs to address the concerns of the people of Balochistan and ensure justice and equality for all citizens.

The long march to Islamabad held last week by the people of Balochistan to speak out against alleged disappearances and unfair treatment makes evident the state’s inability to protect its citizens’ rights from being violated.
It’s troubling to see the authorities respond with such an aggressive crackdown against peaceful protestors. This misuse of power is not the solution to this problem. The state should listen to the marchers and address their concerns instead of using force.
