Society of Gynecology Oncology inaugurated
LAHORE:Punjab Governor Baligh ur Rahman and Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram inaugurated the Society of Gynecology Oncology Pakistan at Governor’s House on Tuesday.
In his address, Punjab Governor said that the establishment of Society of Gynecology Oncology Pakistan is very encouraging. Doctors are doing great work in our society. Every human being has room for further improvement. May Allah Almighty grant the Society of Gynecology Oncology Pakistan to serve humanity, he added. He said cancer has never been an easy disease and we should take cancer treatment very seriously.
The Punjab government will do everything possible for the success of Society of Gynecological Oncology Pakistan. Prof Dr Javed Akram, in his address, said that after breast cancer in women, the rate of gynecological cancer is increasing. We want to promote evidence-based studies in Pakistani society. Breastfeeding is the greatest gift a mother can give to her baby. Mother's milk improves the growth of the child, he said. Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal said that cancer and trauma are big killers in our society. Prof Ayesha is the founder of the Post Graduate Programme in Gynecology Oncology in the private sector. Ten state-of-the-art centres for post-graduation in gynecology oncology will be established in Pakistan.
KEMU delegation calls on governor
A delegation of alumni of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) led by Dean Prof Shehzad Shams and President KEMCANA Dr Irfan Munir called on Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman at Governor’s House on Tuesday.
Pro-VC Prof Ejaz Hussain, Prof Saira Afzal, Registrar Prof Asghar Naqi, Prof Abrar Ashraf, Dr Shahzad Khan were the other members of delegation. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab governor said that Pakistani doctors enjoy good repute all over the world due to their competence and professional skills.
He said that keeping abreast of new technology and research is very important in the field of medicine. He said that the surge in diabetes cases in Pakistan is alarming. He said that as chancellor, he has given special instructions for holding seminars and sessions for creating awareness about diabetes in universities.
Later, Punjab governor visited the residence of Sardar Azhar Khan Leghari to condole the sad demise of his brother Capt (retd) Umar Khan Leghari.
