Poor performing officers to be removed: minister
LAHORE : Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir Saturday said Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Health Authorities (DHA) with poor performance would be removed and replaced with dynamic ones.
Chairing the monthly performance review meeting of District Health Authorities of Punjab, Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan reviewed the monthly working of the CEOs of Health department of the province.
Dr Jamal Nasir urged the CEOs to be steadfast and not to succumb to any pressure as the department was fully supporting them.
He asked the CEOs to make their subordinate staff to work and if any doctor did not work, the relevant CEO Health would be held accountable.
He said good performance should be rewarded while the bad one should be punished, saying non-working officers and doctors have no right to remain in service.
The minister observed that the Punjab Chief Minister's commitment for improving health facilities was commendable as the CM was providing all possible resources and now it is the responsibility of doctors to provide better treatment to citizens.
Dr Jamal said there was no shortage of resources at government hospitals, only the spirit on the part of doctors was required.
He said he was personally monitoring the working of all health authorities of the province. He called upon the CEOs to improve their performance indicators and visit rural health centres and basic health units in their respective districts regularly.
The minister asked for ensuring 100 percent attendance of doctors and staff in government hospitals. The minister informed that revamping of district and tehsil headquarters hospitals will be completed very soon.
The secretary directed that all vehicles of the Health Department should be fitted with trackers by January 2024. Special Secretary Muhammad Iqbal, Additional Secretary Khizr Afzal and Rashid Irshad, DG Health Dr Ilyas Gondal and DG Drugs Muhammad Sohail also attended the meeting.
