SMBR wants land reforms completed in Mardan

PESHAWAR: Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ikramullah Khan, paid a visit to Mardan, where he asked Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai to reform land records for the benefit of the public.

Presiding over a meeting of revenue officers of the Mardan division, the SMBR cited directives from the high court and the provincial government, specifically concerning the transformation of “Khana-i- Kasht” to “Khana Malkiyat” in the public interest.

Member of the Board of Revenue, Adeel Shah, and Board of Revenue Secretary Tariq Khan were also present during the meeting. Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, Deputy Commissioner Mardan Wasil Khan, DC Swabi Dr Tariqullah, ADCs of Mardan and Swabi, and revenue officers attended the session.

Additional Commissioner Naeem Akhtar, while discussing the progress in Mardan and Swabi regarding Khana e Kasht, highlighted the challenges and said that in Mardan district, 7600 accounts across 153 Maozajat faced issues, with 688 accounts cleared that benefited 65,962 people.

In Swabi, 7,653 accounts across 87 locations encountered problems, with 149 accounts cleared. Ikramullah Khan directed the revenue officers to promptly address deficiencies related to Khana e Kasht in line with government orders and court rulings and ensure the rightful recipients received their entitlements.

He discussed the potential exploitation of the weak, orphans, and widows due to these issues and called for necessary training for revenue officials.He stressed the court’s decision on a complete mutation ban in Khana-e-Kasht and called for adherence to the orders.
