Let me explain with a completely personal opinion. There are two types of performers:

showbiz

A few months back, we did an article on the Pakistani female actresses ruling the TV and film industry. We promised next we will talk about the performers that rule our screens. But before that let me clear what we are talking about. Let me explain with a completely personal opinion. There are two types of performers:

A) Heroes like Humayun Saeed and B) Actors like Faisal Qureshi. By no means I am trying to say that Humayun Saeed is not a good actor but if we compare the two,

Faisal Qureshi is a great actor who has proved his acting prowess through diversity in his career. Similarly, I absolutely adore Fawad Khan but Fahad Mustafa is a way

better actor any given day. So here is a list of new age actors who may not be TV or film’s first choice for leading roles but are undoubtedly versatile actors.

Zahid Ahmed

This tall and handsome guy with a strong husky voice is an incredible addition to our TV industry. Starting of as an RJ and a theatre actor sure explains his talent and the ability to play with his voice yet when he ventured into TV, he took everyone by surprise with the range of leading and antagonist roles.

He came into spotlight with ‘Alvida’ opposite Sanam Jung in which he played a negative character who has mental issues. Some of his other memorable performances are ‘Zara Yaad Kar’, ‘Besharam’, ‘Visaal’, ‘Daldal’, ‘Tau Dil Ka Kia Hua’, and recently concluded ‘Ishq Zahe Naseeb’, in which he garnered much acclaim.

Despite his good looks and persona, Zahid Ahmed doesn’t always go for leading roles but believes in diversity of performances, which makes him one of the most sought-after actors of today.

Imran Ashraf

We would like to start off the list with the multi-talented actor who is natural; be it his role of a mentally challenged Bhola in ‘Ranjha Ranjha Kardi’ or the antagonist Rehan in ‘Inkar’. Imran Ashraf got noticed from ‘Dil Lagi’ where he played a gullible side-kick to Humayun Saeed and opened doors for his unlimited talents to be showcased through ‘Dil Mom Ka Dia’, ‘Alif Allah Aur Insaan’, ‘Jaal’, ‘Lashkara’, to name a few. He is one actor who has a long way to go.

Faizan Khwaja

This is one actor who I believe is quite underrated or does not find appropriate scripts to justify his talent. Son of TV producer Rashid Khwaja, Faizan has professionally learned acting and filmmaking, and has also been trained by veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah.

Starting off his career with Maya Ali and Osman Khalid Butt in ‘Ek Nayee Cinderella’, he has appeared in ‘Meri Ladli’, ‘Main Gunehgar Nahin’, ‘Mann Ke Moti’, ‘Ishq Tamasha’ and recently concluded ‘Qismat’. But the play that displayed his versatility was ‘Ru Baru’.

He even showcased his talent in the movie ‘Chupan Chupai’ alongside Ahsan Khan, Talat Hussain and Sakina Samo. He is also signed up for an upcoming movie, ‘Half Fry’ which also features Yasir Hussain and Faryal Mahmood. We hope we get to see more of him on big or small screen.

Bilal Abbas Khan

Starting off his career in 2016, Bilal Abbas Khan made his mark in a very short span of time. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that he came out as a surprise for the entertainment industry. He is one good looking actor who is not relying on just his looks and presence to win over, he is actually using his acting chops too.

Take ‘Qurban’, ‘O Rangreza’, ‘Laal’ or ‘Balaa’, he won hearts and when he was to play the antagonist in ‘Cheekh’, he once again stole the show even while sharing screen space with Saba Qamar, Aijaz Aslam and Ushna Shah. He is recently appearing in ‘Pyar ke Sadqay’ in a simple and innocent character, which once again shows diversity of his range as an actor.

Gohar Rasheed

Another theatre find, Gohar Rasheed is not your usual hero but he is definitely a natural actor who can perform a diversity of roles with ease, and shines out as an excellent actor. He is also one actor who has ventured into films before TV and proved he can carry both on his shoulders. Take the confused terrorist in ‘Yalghar’ or the vicious villain in ‘Rangreza’, or talk about diversity on small screen from ‘Digest Writer’, ‘Mann Mayal’, ‘Nazdeekiyan’, ‘Shikwa’, to the currently on air ‘Ishqiya’, Gohar has proved himself in antagonist and protagonist roles time and again.

Oh and yes, the guy can dance too!
