I hate about these stories is that instead of inspiring me they make me low, as if I am an incompetent person, and just a loser....

Dear Ed,

I have been enjoying the art work of Haris Ikhtiar and I hope more artists like him are published by Us. My favourite section is ‘My Teenage Years’, as I like to read about what celebs liked when they were young. I think it would also be nice to read about the teen years of our national players.

Hi Ed,

In the issue of 20 May, I read the second part of Horrors of Adulting: If truth be told, and I must say Aleezeh Fatima Hashmi is spot on! I also used to think grownups had all the fun reality is different. Also, I also read success stories and sometimes feel extremely envious of people who have it made. So maybe they are not as sorted as they portray but maybe they are. Who can tell? But the thing I hate about these stories is that instead of inspiring me they make me low, as if I am an incompetent person, and just a loser.

Hello Editor,

In last week’s issue (May 20 issue), I enjoyed reading the interview of Aoun Ali Khan by Asif Khan. He is from a family that has produced legends, and I would watch with interest his progress. Ed, ‘Horrors of Adulting’ is a good topic and the second part ‘If truth be told’ was better than the first. There was so much in the story I could personally relate to! Good job, Aleezeh, as always.

Hi Ed,

‘Inside Sarwat Gillani’s Art House’ (May 20 issue) was very interesting. Sarwat is doing a great job and we need more of these centres for our young people. This centre seems to be for the elite, but I feel in every section of the city such institutes should be opened to keep our youth engaged in constructive activities. Ed, summer is here and I will wait for the ‘Summer Movies’ from Fatima Zakir. I have a suggestion: all Us readers should send a brief note on one activity in their city. It would be nice to know how people my age spend their summer break.

Reflection

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (R.A):

A man heard another man reciting (Surat-Al-Ikhlas) ‘Say He is Allah, (the) One.’ (112. 1) repeatedly. The next morning he came to Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) and informed him about it as if he thought that it was not enough to recite. On that Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hand my life is, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur’an!”

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri(RA): My brother, Qatada bin An-Nau’man (RA)said, “A man performed the night prayer late at night in the lifetime of the Prophet (S.A.W) and he read: ‘Say: He is Allah, (the) One,’ (112.1) and read nothing besides that. The next morning a man went to the Prophet, and told him about that. (The Prophet replied the same as (in Hadith 532) above.)
