“Hey, I need to solve these complex maths problems!”

“Hey, I need to come up with a presentation for my economics class! The deadline is near, and I’m nowhere near completion!

What am I supposed to do now? Should I consult a classmate and see their assignment or presentation - or ask them to help me out? ”

Those were the lives of pre-AI humans. Tsk, tsk... what prehistoric times!

Today, times have changed - and how! Students no longer have to bother consulting classmates, racking their brains, or endlessly Googling things. AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and others are here to help: solving maths problems, making presentations, writing essays and reports - you name it, and they can do it all, turning us into AI-powered humans.

However, there’s still one thing these tools can’t do for us AI-powered humans: take our exams. (Not yet, at least!) Heck, we should have AI-powered exams too - where the only skill needed is how to type the perfect prompt to get the right answer. Wouldn’t that make life simpler and studies breezier? “AI is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” could become the new student mantra (with apologies to Nelson Mandela, who said that about education in those outdated, prehistoric times).

All play and no work now makes Jack sound like your average AI-powered kid.

“Why are you stressing? Just ask AI,” parents might be heard scolding their kids.

AI would be making career choices for AI-powered humans, suggesting ideal professions based on personality and interests, and even recommending the best universities. Not to forget, AI could also attend job interviews on our behalf and update us on how the interview and salary negotiations went - while we relax on the couch munching popcorn and chips. And who said life has to be difficult?

In countries like ours, where internet outages are frequent and stable connectivity is still a dream, our AI-powered humans might not even know whether to use multipurpose flour or chickpea flour in cakes, how to find the elusive X in a maths problem, or the correct cement-to-sand ratio for house construction.

Our “AI Minister” - who naturally holds a degree in botany or international relations - would be under fire daily as life grinds to a halt. In a panic, he/she would turn to AI to ask what to do, since original thinking is now considered outdated.

And then there’s the not-so-far-fetched danger of a dystopian future, as shown in many Hollywood movies where AI, having had enough, takes over the world and decides to eliminate its masters: the AI-powered humans. The human race, stripped of instincts long ago, is left fighting for survival.

Back to prehistoric times!
