BITS ‘N’ PIECES

Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (R.A):

I heard Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) saying, “The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for.”

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Number 1

Tokyo is the most populous city in the world

Reflection

With more than 37 million people calling Tokyo and its metropolis home, the Japanese capital is considered the world’s most populated city. The city proper has a population of almost 14 million people while its metropolitan area is estimated to have more than 37 million residents. Tokyo is also the most densely populated city on the planet (with over 6,000 inhabitants per square kilometer) and is one of the biggest and most influential cities in Asia.

Formerly known as Edo, the area was originally a fishing village that gained political prominence in the early 17th century after becoming the seat of the Tokugawa shogunate – the military government of Japan – in 1603; by the 18th century, it had grown into one of the largest cities in the world with a population topping one million.

Tokyo is now Japan’s leading business hub and the second-largest urban economy worldwide by gross domestic product after New York City.

Not far behind in terms of population is India’s Delhi (with 30 million plus estimated inhabitants), China’s Shanghai (more than 27 million), Brazil’s Sao Paulo (upwards of 22 million), and Mexico’s Mexico City (over 21 million).
