Riding high on romance, drama and emotions, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Maya Ali-starrer Mann Mayal (which started on Jan 25) has told viewers a lot in just three episodes. Though the first two episodes were not exceptional, the latest episode has pulled in a lot of praise, particularly for Maya Ali, who stole the show with her emotional expressions and innocence.

With an all-star cast, the play that created much hype well before its release is resonating well with the audience as Hamza and Maya share great chemistry on screen and continue to showcase their acting chops brilliantly.

“Mann Mayal is doing really well, even more than we expected,” Sana Shahnawaz, the producer of the play shared with Instep in a quick conversation at the press meet of Dillagi.

Directed by Haseeb Hasan, whose last project Diyar-e-Dil was an enormous hit, Mann Mayal is an intense and emotionally charged love story of Manahil (Maya) and Salahuddin (Hamza) and is said to portray a very different concept of love which is rarely seen on screen these days.

“Once I had the script from Sameera Fazal (writer), I asked Hamza, Aisha and Gohar, who are very good friends of mine, that I want you do this for me and they all agreed,” Sana maintained.

So far the drama has focused only on the characters of Hamza and Maya and it is yet to be seen what Aisha Khan has to bring to the table. Her character is being dubbed as interesting and strong and is expected to enter the play soon.

Shot in Hyderabad and Karachi, it is Sana’s first play as a producer. “I have put in a lot of efforts and designed the whole play with all my heart; it was my first play after all. And the response is amazing,” she concluded.
