We all know that Osman Khalid Butt has a strong background in theatre before he transitioned to TV and films. The artist is planning to return to his theatrical roots with an upcoming performance, according to his recent social media post.
Osman shared a poster of sorts of theatre play Phadda, featuring him alongside Usman Mukhtar, who attracted rave review for his debut drama serial Anaa earlier this year.
“What better way to welcome the Roaring Twenties than to return to my theatre roots with an Insolent Knights showcase performance,” OKB wrote. “This was one of the most challenging, complex plays I’ve done – and in a time where masculinity is being redefined, one of the most important.”
Phadda is based on Square Go by Kieran Hurley and Fary McNair, adapted and directed by Osman Khalid Butt while it stars him alongside Usman Mukhtar.
“We’re thinking of doing an encore in Islamabad next month and touring Lahore and Karachi, so fingers crossed!” he informed, while thanking Usman, who they lovingly call ‘Joey’ (reference: Friends) in these words: “Thank you, Joey, for being my partner in crime. And of course, Tulin & Tasha for the platform to entertain, enlighten and hopefully educate.”
Osman Khalid Butt has had a busy year as he featured prominently in Saqib Malik’s debut film Baaji; he was also seen in Superstar with Mahira Khan in the song, ‘Noori.’ Osman is currently on air as one of the four friends being followed in ISPR production Ehd e Wafa and has a small but significant role in Alif.
